Do-it-yourself installation of Hurricane Fabric will require some general carpentry and handyman skills.
When you measure for your Hurricane Fabric the type of Contruction on your home or building is important. You will have to measure, as a rule of thumb, for a 4" inch overlap on Concrete Construction and a 1" overlap for Wood Frame Construction.
When attaching Hurricane Fabric to your home or building generally only the two longest sides are attached. However there are exceptions: Bay Windwows need all 4 sides attached, Poches or Lanais are attached at the top and both sides, and openings that have a side greater then 120" should be attached on 3 or 4 sides.
The Fabric attaches to your home or building typically every 12" using patented clips and either Concrete or Wood Frame Fasteners.
Concrete Construction
Windows - Your Hurricane Fabric should overlap 4" on each side the Top and Bottom. Your Fabric's Width will be 8" then the window as will the Height.
Doors/Sliding Glass Doors/ Garage Doors - Your Hurricane Fabric should overlap 4" on each side and 4" on the Top. Your Fabric's Width will be 8" then the opening ands the Height will be 4" greater.
Decorative Trim - Measure far enough so the Fabric can lay flat for 4".

Wood Frame Construction
Most Wood Frame Openings have a double 2 X 4 Frame around each opening. Anchors should be placed in the center of the 2 X 4 framing. Measure 1" past the butt opening on each side.
